Our Mission Statement

‘Be bold, be strong, for the Lord your God is with you’. These words are taken from one of our favourite songs and are inspired by Joshua 1:9. Our mission is to help our children to develop the skills of an effective lifelong learner, build successful relationships, have clear Christian values and principles and live by them. We don’t give up; we learn by our mistakes and we are kind to each other.

We have three school rules: Be ready, be respectful, be safe.

Welcome to Our School Website

St Mary’s C.E. Primary School is a thriving and successful primary school situated in Platt Bridge, Wigan. Our children come from the surrounding areas of Platt Bridge, Spring View, Lower Ince, Abram and Hindley. We moved into our new school building in April 2015 though the school has existed for over 100 years.

St Mary’s is a very friendly school with a family ethos. Although we are a church school your child does not have to have attended church or a place or worship to gain a place here. Sadly, St Mary’s church closed due to building issues but we have an excellent relationship with St Nathaniel’s church which is just across the road so we can visit regularly for our services and curriculum sessions.

We have an open door policy and are an extremely approachable team. Our talented staff are deeply committed to providing a high quality education and support system for our community. Excellent teachers and teaching assistants provide an interesting and exciting yet challenging curriculum in a safe, warm secure and caring environment. Our Pastoral Team support this by providing a wide range of nurture and therapeutic sessions for our children and craft sessions, parenting, attendance and crisis support for our parents.

Alongside our curriculum we provide a range of after school clubs, sports tournaments, visits and enrichment opportunities. We work with the Skills Builder and Credit Unify teams to deliver enterprise topics and our team of Money Mentors work with other classes to improve important life skills and prepare our children for their future lives.

We welcome visitors to the school at any time.
